Student Sponsorships & Scholarships
Our educational scholarship program focuses on children in primary, secondary, and university. We serve impoverished youth and children who need assistance to attend school. For the youth we support with educational scholarships, we want them to improve confidence, develop growth mindsets, and improve academic performance. We aim to reduce the financial burden on their family. We have two main streams of students and youth: kids who have attended our leadership camps - and students identified through community needs assessments and partner organizations in rural Tanzania.
We believe that all a kid needs is a boost and a chance and an opportunity to actualize their potential. Through our scholarship program, children and youth receive financial assistance, mentorship, and counselling in order to prepare them best to reach their dreams.
Yasinta
Yasinta was born in Ikaning'ombe - the same village where our co-founders are from. A child of five, with a single mom, growing up and making ends meet was challenging.

Every Child Tanzania in partnership with Mufindi Orphans, began sponsoring Yasinta's education when she was in high school. We covered her school fees, provided her with mentorship, and internship opportunities. She even came to the ECT Fursa Leadership Camps to volunteer and empower other young women.
Since she was in primary school, Yasinta dreamed of working at a bank and becoming an accountant. Her inspiration came from her parents. Her father was a church leader who passed away when she was just 3 - and her mother ran the village's women's savings group (VICOBA).

In December 2023, Yasinta successfully finished her Bachelor's Degree of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Iringa. She came back to be a Teacher-Leader at the 2023-2024 Fursa Camp, so she can continue to help young women achieve their dreams, just like she did.
Jesca
Jesca is a current 2024 Fursa Fellow, who has been sponsored by MOI since 2013.

One of 9 children, Jesca lost her father in Grade 2 and her mother in Grade 4. After losing her parents, with no where else to go, she moved to the Mufindi Orphans Children's Village. Since then, she went onto to finish Form 4 and plans to continue on to her Advanced Level education Jesca, now 17, is a thriving young woman with dreams of becoming a lawyer. As a lawyer, she specifically hopes to reduce corruption and gender based violence.

Jesca has said that her life's purpose is to help other orphaned and vulnerable children like herself and give them the opportunities and "fursa" that she was given. She wants to work towards ensuring her community is safe and thriving!
Glory & Ashery
Glory and Ashery are cousins, living in Ikaning'ombe at their grandmother's house. Glory is 11 and Ashery is 12 - and they are both entering Grade 6 at Vinton's Village Madisi School in Igoda Village in Mufindi, about 5 km from where they are living. Each day, they get up at 4:30 am to get ready and walk to school - sometimes they are lucky and catch a bus!

Glory's mother abandoned her four years ago to her grandmother's along with her older sister, Hefeseba. Their mother has been struggling since the death of her husband around the time Glory was born. Glory's grandmother is 86 and a subsistence farmer, unable to support her education. ECT stepped in to sponsor Glory's school fees and supplement her school needs. She's doing amazing in school - top of her class and deemed - "the cleanest student" in 2023.

Ashery's parents live in Dodoma, as a hair stylist and motorcycle driver. Since the death of Ashery's younger sister, they have struggled to make ends meet and send Ashery to a school where he can get the support he needs. Sending him to stay with his grandmother and cousin was a great choice! Since starting at Madisi School, Ashery has improved his grades, his English, and is now the time keeper of Grade 6! He wants to be a policeman, just like his father was years ago.
