Fursa camps allow students who have just graduated to get a chance to put their aspirations, knowledge, and skills into practice while being mentored by ECT in a safe environment. Our goal is to provide fellows: with quality, equity and diversified education opportunities that are accessible to all.
Three months before each leadership camp, the ECT program team and newly selected teacher-leaders travel to five schools in Iringa and Njombe. During each visit, they facilitate a full day learning and leadership session for Form Four students; followed by interviews with 6-10 students. Fellows are selected and notified on this day, and given preparation materials for the camp. 1-3 fellows are selected from each school.
Fellows travel from Njombe and Iringa to the Eco-Farm to participate in the four to six week-long camp. Opening with games and a launch day, fellows are welcomed with open arms. The first two weeks of the camp focus heavily on computer basics, life skills, financial literacy, social emotional learning and health. The second two weeks focus on the above topics as well as on career guidance, mentorship, experiential learning, and developing and implementing social innovative projects.
