Our Story
Growing up in a rural Tanzanian village as an orphan and within financially struggling families, educational prospects were scarce for us, Ngojea Kitinusa and Akida Mdalingwa (Co-Founders of ECT). Quality education remained a distant dream, with many peers unable to complete schooling due to inadequate support. Our fortunate circumstances involved the backing of relatives, community members, and a local NGO led by Jenny Peck a formal Peace Corps Volunteer and her husband Geoff Knight as well as other NGO leaders and community members. Their mentorship enabled us to to diligently, procure funds for school fees, and successfully complete secondary education, eventually attaining university degrees. Upon finishing our degrees, we interned and worked for Foxes NGO in Mufindi, where we both garnered our skills in youth empowerment, community development, and organizational management.
This journey instilled within us a deep-seated purpose: to uplift our community. Over the past decade and a half, we have wholeheartedly engaged with both local and global NGOs, fostering the development of children and youth. Our organization focused on empowering the younger generation and bolstering Tanzanian communities is a testament to repaying the generosity once bestowed upon us. This commitment led us to establish Every Child Tanzania in 2018, an organization dedicated to the holistic well-being of children and youth, aiming to ensure their prosperity and growth.
